Game Features

Find just some of our many features!

We're sure you remember the taste of the much trampled dust as you make your way to the lights of the stadium in front of you. The tired legs of your fellow fans as you disembark the specially arranged Supporters' Astral Ship. The thrill of standing should to shoulder with Orcs, Elves, Gibberlings and every other race of Sarnaut as you first set eyes on the Goblinoball heroes you'd only previously seen in sticker albums. Yes, we can all recall our first Goblinoball memories!

Well with the next update of Allods Online, we'll be bringing some fantastic changes to the most unique sport you'll find in any MMO! Goblin scarves at the ready, let's get to the details!

So what's new? Well everything really! First off, there won't be any more jostling on the astral ships to get you to Competition Island to take part in a game of Goblinoball, instead you'll simply have to access the Skirmishes tab on your interface (  ) and simply sign up! Once you've agreed to take part the system works like the Battleground system, in that as soon as the right amount of players are willing to play you'll receive a message saying the instance is now waiting for you, hit the Accept button and you will be immediately transferred to your match!

The amount of players required to open the Goblinoball instance is eight, two teams of four with all of your teammates being required to come from the same faction, imagine the carnage is a Gibberling goalkeeper made a mistake and cost a team of Orcs the match after all!

The match lasts for ten minutes, with additional minutes being added in case of a draw. If this happens 'next goal wins' rules applies, so plan your extra time tactics well!

Each character can participate in these matches up to 5 times per day, meaning you can't hog the goblinoball all to yourself and not let others play!

Once the match ends a screen similar to that you see at the end of Battlegrounds appears, detailing you made the most tackles and who got on the ball the most.

If your teammates are slacking use these stats to get them to train harder before your next match!

Playing the game is now easier than ever too! Once inside the stadium, and in your goblinoball uniform, you will have four basic outfield commands for your character to shoot, rush and tackle. Sounds simple, but like any great sport it is easy to play but difficult to master! To get you prepared take a look at the commands at your disposal:

Powerful Kick Once when the ball is targeted a coloured orb appears over you head as you take possession. Use the target to where you want the ball to go and click Powerful Kick to move it there!
Charge Makes your character sprint for a short period of time. Applies a Fatigue debuff afterwards and Breached Defences debuff during sprint.
Kick on the Shin Use on any player under Breached Defence debuff to challenge them.
Solid Defence Attempt to win the ball from any player looking to shoot.

That's your out field attacking sorted, but what about those who love the horrors of being in goals? Well to become the goalkeeper you simply need to run into the 5 yard box around your own goals to become the keeper and activate a spell called Return The Ball. This allows you to block any attempted shot if positioned correctly!

So that's the actual game out of the way, let's get to the rewards! Players from both the League and the Empire will find two new NPCs in their faction's capital to trade their winnings from the pitch to. For the Empire it's Spin the Reckless, for the League it is Rogneda Whistlie, both can be found near the Battleground NPCs in Yasker's Tower or Novograd. They will offer your a variety of goods in exchange for a new alternative currency called Contest Medals

These work a lot like the Battleground Emblems do. You can collect 60 Right Halves of the Contest Medal from your faction's Goblinoball Trainer through a repeatable quest, this quest is simply asking the NPC for those halves. You then win the Left Half of the Contest Medal on the Goblinoball pitch, combine these items for a complete Contest Medal to be added to your Valuables tab!

After that simply return to the Goblinoball Trainer and ask to trade your new currency for items ranging from symbols of gold to amalgam to symbols of experience to crafting items to much more! There has been an emphasis placed on making as many crafting items available as possible through this system, this is part of the developers' reworking of the entire crafting system, so our alchemists, tailors and blacksmiths will be happy to rest up after a match and get to creating some wonderful goods for the Auction House!
